Santos® is a human simulator developed at the University of Iowa which aids in the reduction of load for the US Marines, tests new equipment for the US Army, and helps design new vehicles for the auto manufacturing industry. Santos® is a computer program developed over the past 12 years by a team of about 50 researchers. Santos® operates inside a computer and can check for all types of scenarios before the equipment or vehicle is built, thus reducing cost and time. Professor Abdel-Malek will discuss his experience working with Santos® on ongoing research. This lecture is sponsored by the University of Iowa Provost’s Office of Outreach & Engagement.
