Downtown Assocation (DTA)

The Downtown Association of Iowa City is a nonprofit association of business and community members who pool their resources to promote downtown. The organization provides leadership and undertakes programs to create, promote and sustain downtown Iowa City as a unique and economically viable business, entertainment, social and cultural center.

DTA is beginning this decade with more than 70 members, the majority being retailers, restaurants and professional service providers.

Adding to the vitality of downtown

Two of our popular annual events are Taste of Iowa City and RiverFeast, co-organized by DTA and the University of Iowa. Retailers have created numerous events to promote Sidewalk Sales. A spring retail fair on the pedestrian mall is in early planning stages. Celebrate the Season launches the holiday season in early December with sales promotions, kids’ activities and horse-drawn wagon rides. The DTA Events Committee works with Summer of the Arts to help promote Friday Night Concert Series, Iowa Arts Festival, Jazz Fest and other art and cultural activities downtown.

New DowntownIowaCity.com Website

Launched in January 2010, DTA’s current website is designed to appeal to customers and allows for timely updating. All downtown business will be listed on the site, and DTA members will enjoy upgraded listings and exclusive sponsorship opportunities.

Park & Shop Program

DTA manages the Park & Shop program which provides businesses with parking ramp and bus vouchers for their customers. DTA members may purchase tickets for a 33% discount off the city’s hourly bus and ramp rates. Non-members receive a 20% discount off city rates.

Get Involved

The way to make the downtown area a vibrant and economically successful area is by utilizing the talents and time of those interested in its success. If you are willing to help with one of the following committees, please contact us at dtaiowacity@gmail.com.
