The Iowa City Downtown District’s CoSign+ Grant Program, sponsored by MidWestOne Bank, is back and is now accepting applications for 2021. CoSign+ is a carefully tailored grant program that supports storefront enhancements and projecting signage as a way to further craft a creative statement along Downtown’s streetscapes. The goals of CoSign+ are to provide meaningful and original pedestrian-oriented wayfinding enhancements to support improved navigation of the downtown and Northside environment, as well as improve direct sales through enhanced retail “theater.”  This program is great for existing and new business owners as well as cultural entities.

For 2021, the program focuses on projecting signage, awnings/canopies, take-out windows, transparency, and lighting.  With support from MidwestOne Bank, the ICDD will award $35,000 in “match” grants for eligible entities. A 50% match grant of up to $3,000 will be awarded for projecting signs and a 50% match of up to $2,000 will be awarded for storefront enhancements on a first-come, first-serve basis until the funding is gone. Downtown District businesses that are interested in the program should read the full application process and follow the steps to applying.
