Donnelly’s – 110 E College St.

You’re invited to join us at First Round, Iowa City’s community happy hour event. It’s the perfect opportunity to meet new people, socialize, and see what’s new in the world of arts, business, and culture in the Iowa City community. The monthly networking event happens on the 3rd Wednesday of each month and rotates to a new venue downtown. Anyone is invited to come network and listen to a quick Q & A from individuals in our community.

November’s First Round will be at Donnelly’s located in the Ped Mall at 110 E College St. on Wednesday, November 17 from 5:00 – 6:30pm. Thanks to Locals Love Us, your #firstround is FREE!

Joining us for November’s event will be host, Susan Felker from Prairie Kitchen Store and special guests: Talia Meidlinger, the new Executive Director of United Action for Youth, and Caterina Lamuta, a UI assistant professor in Mechanical Engineering. Attendees can join us beginning at 5:00pm, grab a complimentary drink, and listen in on a lively discussion about what’s new at UAY and how this researcher received a new grant to create artificial muscles based on tentacle-like limbs.

All attendees and staff should follow the current City of Iowa City mask requirements and physical distancing recommendations. Face coverings should be worn when indoors and when attendees are not eating or drinking.

*Recommended parking will be along the street or the closest parking ramp will be the Old Capitol Mall Parking Ramp.

Experience Mi Casa, Your Casa 2.0 in Iowa CityJune 10 - July 10th

The Mi Casa, Your Casa 2.0 red frames, each in the shape of a small house, set alongside one another will be placed in three main areas of the pedestrian mall. Inside each “casa”, there is a swing and a ring of lights lining the bottom. When the house is empty, the lights glow dimly to welcome the next visitor. Once someone steps inside, the lights release a more powerful glow, indicating that someone is home.
