Join the most interesting people in history for an exciting and engaging field trip to Iowa City! Enjoy:

– An in-depth, guided tour of the historic Old Capitol Museum
– “Our Liberties We Prize,” a presentation on the experiences and values of the citizens who shaped Iowa’s statehood, delivered in the Old Capitol’s Senate Chamber by State Curator Leo Landis
– A behind-the-scenes tour of the Museum of Natural History, one of the University of Iowa’s prized Pentacrest museums

Explore our roots as Iowans with historians and history buffs of all types as we take a deep dive into the early landscapes, politics, and principles of Iowa in the 1840s, 1850s, and 1860s.

This field trip is brought to you free of charge, courtesy of the University of Iowa’s Old Capitol Museum and Museum of Natural History. Space is limited to 50 individuals due to tour group size requirements. Please register in advance of the event.
