Humor serves many purposes: breaking down barriers, expressing or easing anxieties, suverting social hierarchies. Laughter, we all know, is the best medicine. Humor also comes in many forms—satire, slapstick, irony, wordplay, etc. In this class we’ll read some great humorous essays and stories, and try our hands at tickling each other’s funny bones through our own writing exercises.
