Discover how you can get involved in the rollout of Iowa City’s Climate Action Plan during an upcoming community meeting.
Iowa City’s Climate Action Plan will identify actions across several categories that the community can take to reduce its carbon footprint. Items include everyday habits, like transportation, diet and consumption, to larger community development opportunities in our buildings and neighborhoods, as well as initiatives to improve social equity.
People are encouraged to come and learn more about the steps needed to put the Climate Action Plan in motion and identify their role in helping to carry it out.
The Climate Action Steering Committee, representing a variety of community groups and organizations, has been working to develop Iowa City’s first ever Climate Action and Adaptation Plan, which will include ways to achieve community-wide greenhouse gas reduction targets, in addition to creating a more livable, equitable and resilient Iowa City.
The plan is expected to go before the City Council this summer
Widespread community input is vital for this effort to succeed. All parts of the community are encouraged to attend, from residents and businesses to nonprofits and organizations.
