Digital Media Lab
During these special help hours, patrons can come into the Digital Media Lab for assistance with game design for video games and tabletop games.
The Digital Media Lab regularly offers our Edit Bays and laptops with Unity and Blender, along with the Creative Cloud suite of Adobe Substance, Animate, and Mixamo. Though we currently don’t offer in-depth experience designing games with these products, programming, or coding, we are more than happy to help find resources on our shelves or online for these areas!
Victor primarily works in tabletop game design, focusing on board games and card games, with some design experience with tabletop simulators like Tabletop Simulator and Foundry VTT. By ‘tabletop game design’ we mean exploring resources for storytelling in games, crafting ideas for games and game mechanics, exploring digital art resources for games, and making printable templates through software like Adobe Express, Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop, along with browser-based apps like Canva and Dextrous. We can also offer assistance with digitally publishing tabletop games or cutting out pieces with the Cricut!
Patrons who already have a game-in-progress are more than welcome to bring their projects in, playtest them in the DML, and ask us for feedback about what to do next!
