Iowa Golden Gloves 2023

Saturday, April 1 and Sunday April 2, Iowa City Iowa–Amateur boxers from all over Iowa will be coming to Iowa City to compete in the first Iowa Golden Gloves Tournament since 2019. This is also the first time the tournament has ever been held outside of Des Moines, thanks to a tourism grant from Think Iowa City. Over 60 boxers have registered for the competition as this is the first year the tournament will include a junior division for 15 to 17 year-old athletes.
10 of the registered boxers are from Johnson County. Representing ICOR Boxing are Ozzy Cortez and Dady Mansaray, from Iowa City, and Ben Moore, of Solon. Boxers from Big George’s Boxing Gym include Josh Gallman of North Liberty and Maddi Pecaitis of Coralville. Athletes competing for Hawkeye Boxing are Luciano Cardozo-Torres, Benjamin Stimson, Erik Caperon, and Jasmin Mendoza, from Iowa City, and Jonathan Gallman, of North Liberty.
