Launched to Space and Returned Safely @ The Senior Center

How is something placed in orbit or on a journey to another place in the solar system? How fast must it go? What challenges must be met in going to the space station? Are launch rockets only used once or can they be reused? How are spacecraft and people safely returned to earth? Do we have the necessary technology to go to Mars? We will answer these questions and more during this class. We also plan to describe our visit to Cape Canaveral in early March 2018 to witness the launch of the next weather satellite GOES-S. Our son-in-law works with that satellite program at NOAA and arranged a special invitation for us to watch the launch.
