2/18: Cooking with Herbs and Spices
Most Americans consume too much salt (sodium) and sugar. Overconsumption of sodium and sugar can have negative health effects. In this session, participants will learn how to identify low-sodium and low-sugar food items. The class will discuss alternative herbs, spices, and seasonings used to enhance flavor in food preparation while lowering the sugar and sodium content in recipes. A low-sodium recipe will be sampled.

Kelly Wagner works as a clinical dietitian at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She is committed to promoting healthy eating habits throughout the lifespan.

Material Fee: $15/session; pay instructor. Registration required.
