Lebkuchenherzen (German for “gingerbread hearts”) are delicious treats that sweeten any celebration! Lebkuchenherzen are famous in the Bavarian region of Germany. They are enjoyed throughout all of Germany. And on this day, they will be enjoyed in Iowa City! Today, Children’s librarian Christian will share with us the festive tradition and show us how to decorate your very own Lebkuchenherzen.

Children will get to decorate their own prebaked gingerbread cookie using frosting and other sweet toppings to make their very own Lebkuchenherz. Bring it home to enjoy or give it away as a sweet gift!

Each child in attendance can make one Lebkuchenherz while supplies last.
