Parking Update: The meters at the City’s Burling

Parking Update: The meters at the City’s Burlington Street parking lot, east of the Starbucks on Clinton Street, have been removed and replaced with the ParkMobile digital payment.

Starting this week, those who park in the lot will have to use the ParkMobile app, or ParkMobile Iowa City website, in order to pay for parking.

We love seeing the smiling faces of our grand prize basket winners! These two brothers were selected as this year’s Downtown Hunt for the Elves’ winners. Stores donated a unique array of goodies including a vintage puzzle, free movie passes, gift cards, a toy dragon, and a piggy bank filled with $1 coins.

Thank you to those who made the trip Downtown to wander through shops, restaurants, and venues in search of Santa’s helpers. This activity continues to be a community favorite and if you’re Downtown during the wintertime, you’re bound to see families and friends looking high and low for the elf on the shelf. A big thank you to our 50+ businesses who continue to participate in this lovely and heartwarming tradition. We’re already looking forward to the 2025 holiday season!

After nearly a decade away, this local favorite is bringing its signature slices, fresh-made desserts, and community vibes back to the heart of Iowa City.

Perfect for a quick bite, carry-out, or delivery, The Wedge is continuing to serve up fan favorites like the Nutcracker, Red Baron, Love Supreme, and other vegan and gluten-free options. While their focus remains on pizza, let them tempt you with delicious cookies, cakes, pies, and cheesecakes for dessert.

The Joy March, a quarterly event meant to spread j

The Joy March, a quarterly event meant to spread joy, low-key nonsense, and sudden surprise in Downtown Iowa City, will take place on Saturday, January 18th. Anyone from the community can partake in the march - participants dress in silly costumes, make noise, and manifest joy while bopping around Downtown.

Leading up to this unique celebration, the Iowa City Press Co-op (ICPC) will be putting on a week-long public print jam and art installation at our Pop-up Shop in Black Hawk Mini Park. Follow @icpresscoop and @icjoymarch for updates on print times and special evening events at the shops. The march kicks off at 1:30 PM at Black Hawk Mini Park in the Ped Mall—come ready to have fun and embrace the unexpected!

What to expect in the shops?
- Printmaking JOY: Plates and presses will be available for interactive printmaking with and for the public
- On-Demand Printing: Create Joy Flags and urgent demand postcards (printed the old-fashioned way)
- Free & Open: All activities are free and open to everyone! During closed hours, the space will transform into an evolving print installation.

For her, the holidays are all about the little joys—whether it’s seeing kids light up at the toy displays, decking out the shop in festive decorations, or revisiting memories through her cherished ornament collection.
