2025 Downtown Summer Gallery Walk

For over 25 years, this event has taken over downtown and filled your favorite businesses with wonderful works of art. Make an evening of it and grab a bite to eat, shop, and gallery walk in beautiful downtown Iowa City! The 2025 Downtown Summer Gallery Walk is Friday, June 6th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. This FREE event is open to everyone to enjoy a self-guided tour of shops, galleries, and museums that have curated featured artists and pieces of art.

As a bonus, Summer Gallery Walk nicely aligns with the Iowa Art’s Festival – if you’re an art admirer, this weekend in Iowa City is for you!

  • AKAR/CLAY AKAR Shumpei Yamaki: Anagama Red
    • Iowa-based artist Shumpei Yamaki’s wood-fired pottery, created using traditional anagama techniques.
  • Arts Iowa City’s ArtiFactoryDavid Luck, Steve Maxon, Doris Park, Cheryl Jacobsen, John Goupell, Tony Sutowski,Craig Johnson, Patricia Knox: Meddling in Metal
    • Group show of local artists working in metal.
  • Blick Art Materials – Andy Black: Heroes & Villains

  • Glassando – Becky Ross: Watercolor Paintings
    • Becky had always thought of herself as an artist but never told anyone that until she retired. She began painting in retirement with night classes at Kirkwood and watching YouTube tutorials. Now she calls herself an artist who loves art of all kinds.
  • Iowa Artisans Gallery – Marybeth Slonneger: Walking Distance and Nancy Romalov: Cogsworth Takes a Stand
    • Producer of multiple books covering Iowa City history through photography, Marybeth Slonneger shares her images of familiar neighborhoods alongside other works from throughout her career.

  • Iowa City Senior Center – Vera Ranguelova
    • Vera is an Encaustic artist; encaustic is a unique technique that involves beeswax, damar resin, oil, or dry pigments applied to wood using a propane torch. Vera has been honing her skills as an encaustic artist since 2017.
