(Iowa City, IA) – November 27, 2024 – The holiday spirit comes alive as Iowa City transforms into a winter wonderland with the return of its beloved ‘Tis the Season programming, beginning on Small Business Saturday. This special day celebrates the unique local businesses that make Iowa City extraordinary and invites the community to immerse themselves in the magic of the holidays in Downtown Iowa City. With an exciting lineup of festive events, downtown is set to spread joy and cheer throughout the season.
Small Business Saturday, officially recognized in 2010 by American Express, highlights the vital role independent businesses play in creating vibrant communities. Downtown Iowa City is proud to celebrate this day by encouraging residents and visitors to shop local and visit downtown during the holidays, reinvesting vital dollars into the local economy while supporting the small businesses that define our city’s charm.
To make it even easier to enjoy the day, the City of Iowa City will be offering free parking in all downtown ramps in addition to the Fare Free Transit on Saturday, November 30, 2024. These services allow shoppers to take their time exploring downtown’s diverse array of shops and boutiques while saving money this holiday season. By embracing our small businesses, we help ensure they remain at the heart of our community—keeping Iowa City thriving and full of character.
The holiday magic continues to grow downtown with the Iowa City Downtown District launching even more programming on Small Business Saturday.
