Gyrls Night Out: Fancy Beaded Earwires

January 24 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Using resin flowers, chain, and a dangle, design an earring where the ear wire is part of the design.  Participants will manipulate sterling wire to shape the earwire, harden the wire,, and file the end to ensure smooth entry into your ear.  No experience needed.  Instructor: Cheryl Weatherford.

Wire Wrapped Copper and Pearl Bracelet

Learn wire-wrapping techniques using copper wire.   Participants will make a very smart looking undulating bracelet with copper wire and beads.  No previous experience is necessary.  Instructor: Cheryl Weatherford. Note:  This class serves as a prerequisite for Wire Wrapping Stones 2.0 on Feb. 1.  

Make 2 Bracelets: Intro to Stringing

Stringing beads is a fundamental jewelry making skill.  This class places a focus on aesthetics, functionality, and security.  You will make two bracelets using Czech Republic pressed glass beads and sterling silver spacers.  One bracelet will be made strung on nylon and the second on flexible wire.  No previous experience is needed.  Instructor: Karen Kubby.

Handmade Beaded Card & Envelope

Learn to use folding techniques to make a pop-up card with a matching envelope.  Embellish your card with beads.  Enjoy gifting this card to someone special.  No previous experience needed. Registration is through Kirkwood Community College. Wire Wrapping Stones 2.0

This is the second in a series of wire wrapped stone classes. Use wire to capture a stone using different shapes of wire. Participants will learn to coil and weave wires together for layers of embellishment. Instructor: Cheryl Weatherford. Cubed Right Angle Weave Pendant: Intro to CRAW

Cubed Right Angle Weave (CRAW) is a fun and fascinating stitch. It is hard to learn from video or written instructions. In this class you will learn CRAW with larger beads to create a pendant. Fundamentals of Metal Working: Pendant

In this full day metalworking class, learn the fundamentals of metalworking: sawing, filing, drilling, riveting, and stamping. Then design your pendant and put your newfound or refreshed skills to work. This class serves as a prerequisite for many classes in our metalworking series. No soldering involved in this project. Kumihimo Beaded Bracelet

Learn beaded kumihimo or expand your finishing skills beyond glue-in endcaps.  Learn how to finish your Kongoh Gumi (round braid) bracelet with cones, a wire wrapped loop, and a lobster clasp.  A kumihimo disk and weighted tamas are included. Valentines Watercolor Card Painting Class

Have fun learning the watercolor basics with local illustrator Katelyn McDonald. Meant for beginners, this class will get you comfortable with basic watercolor supplies and turning your unique sketch of blue thistle flowers into a watercolor painting. Wire Woven Loop Earrings

Learn to wrap thinner wire around thicker wire. This is a contemporary wire wrapping technique. Create a loop with this technique. Slip a recycled glass donut on this loop to form a lovely earring.
