Downtown Block Party

2020 Announcement

In order to prioritize the health and well being of our employees and patrons, we must also adapt and redefine our events and we know those are important to you.  Our leadership believes that hosting an event like the Block Party, which saw 42,000 attendees last year, is unfortunately not an option this year and would present unpredictable and potentially unsafe outcomes.  We are disappointed right along with you. We will, however, use this opportunity to innovate multiple, smaller scale events with more open space occurring throughout the summer.  In fact, that’s the approach to all of our events this summer – smaller-scale events that connect the community and our members.

Please stay tuned to our newsletter, social pages for upcoming event announcements.

Through a collaboration with Think Iowa City, Iowa City Area Development Group, Iowa City Area Business Partnership and the Iowa City Downtown District, we're providing continued updates and resources for COVID-19 related information. Thanks to the support from MidWestOne Bank, West Bank, GreenState Credit Union, Great Western Bank, Hills Bank, Two Rivers Bank, U.S. Bank and CBI Bank Trust, Johnson County and other area partners, the Project Better Together team has created a community-wide Shop Local program to help encourage and motivate local spending at Johnson County local businesses. Starting June 22nd, for every $150 spent shopping local, receive a $20 gift card of YOUR choice to a local business.
