After a discussion with the Downtown retailers, we have made the decision to cancel the Summer Shop Crawl set for Friday, July 31st. Given the current circumstances of the pandemic and spike in COVID-19 cases in the area, we want to ensure the safety of our attendees and staff at our wonderful shops. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but are hopeful we will be able to host a Shop Crawl in the Fall. Because of the cancellation, those who have purchased tickets will receive an email with a couple of options on how to proceed.

We are hopeful that we will be able to host an in-person Shop Crawl this upcoming Fall, but in the meantime, we urge everyone to remain safe during this time!

Downtown Summer Shop Crawl

Friday, July 31st from 3:00–8:00pm – CANCELED

The Iowa City Downtown District is back with another Downtown Summer Shop Crawl this Summer! In May there was a Virtual Shop Crawl, but with recent restrictions being lifted and businesses allowed to re-open, we invite you to join us in person for an evening of fun summer drinks and great shopping at our unique downtown businesses. The Downtown Summer Shop Crawl will be on Friday, July 31st from 3:00–8:00pm and will be the perfect opportunity to enjoy the beautiful summer weather and exclusive shopping deals for ticket holders. To accommodate social distancing guidelines, shops may have a capacity limit on how many people can be in their store at a time. We have extended the event time to give attendees the chance to shop at multiple stores given the circumstances. We highly recommend attendees wear masks during the event to protect themselves and others.

A ticket purchase will include a customized glass, an ICDD tote bag, a downtown Iowa City headband, and access to the sales and drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic will be available) at each participating shop. This event is for all ages. If you are under 21, you will still receive a customized glass and there will be non-alcoholic beverages for you to enjoy, such as lemonade, soda, and more!

Ticket Sales Suspended

Those who already purchased tickets will be notified via email and offered refund options.

July 31st from 3:00–8:00pm

Through a collaboration with Think Iowa City, Iowa City Area Development Group, Iowa City Area Business Partnership and the Iowa City Downtown District, we're providing continued updates and resources for COVID-19 related information. Thanks to the support from MidWestOne Bank, West Bank, GreenState Credit Union, Great Western Bank, Hills Bank, Two Rivers Bank, U.S. Bank and CBI Bank Trust, Johnson County and other area partners, the Project Better Together team has created a community-wide Shop Local program to help encourage and motivate local spending at Johnson County local businesses. Starting June 22nd, for every $150 spent shopping local, receive a $20 gift card of YOUR choice to a local business.
