Happy International Women’s Day to all of the talented, strong, resilient, intelligent, and soulful women! The Iowa City Downtown District would like to take a special moment to recognize and congratulate all of the women who are part of the Iowa City Downtown District. To help highlight the 60+ women-owned and women-managed businesses downtown, below is a list of women-owned businesses in the downtown area. These businesses are major drivers of downtown’s vibrant core. Look for the red women-owned and women-managed posters at the businesses identifying them and know that there are even more in tech, design, and medical fields within the upper stories of the downtown landscape.
The Iowa City Downtown District is celebrating Women’s History Month through the month of March. As part of the Downtown District’s women’s campaign, ICDD will celebrate the large impact women have on the downtown area as business owners, employees, volunteers, and supporters. The honorees were nominated by employees, employers, peers, and friends as someone that has helped shape Downtown Iowa City in some way. Each day of the month, the Downtown District will honor these women by featuring them on our social media pages. In addition to the Downtown Women of Impact awards, the Downtown District will feature Women-Owned businesses, and continue efforts in recruitment to attract more woman entrepreneurs to Iowa City.
