Artifactory

Imagine...a place to create!

The following text was copied directly from the Arts Iowa City webpage, and reflects the organization’s focus before the ArtiFactory effort began.  We still hold this focus, but are more directly focused on the creation of a permanent Arts Center. Arts Iowa City/The ArtiFactory is a nonprofit community arts center with a mission to support and promote the work of local artists and engage the community in making art. We have a gallery with exhibits that change monthly. We offer drawing from live models in groups such as the Phil Dorothy Drawing Studio, Body Parts, and Long Pose. We offer workshops and classes in drawing, painting, hot stamped foiling, and are looking to expand into other arts. We provide space to local theater groups Dreamwell and Run of the Mill to stage their plays and fundraising events, and dance groups to practice or stage shows.

ArtsIClogoMission
The mission of Arts Iowa City is to help the arts flourish through art exhibitions and promotion, artist mentoring and networking, and community art education.

History
Arts Iowa City (AIC) is Iowa City’s oldest nonprofit art organization. Otherwise known as the Iowa City/Johnson County Arts Council, AIC was founded in 1975. Since that time our volunteers have developed and implemented art exhibitions, artist services, and community art programs.

Community Served
AIC provides artist members from the greater community of Iowa City and Johnson County by providing art exhibitions, gallery events and educational programming. All AIC events are open to the public.

Past Programs
Exhibiting members’ work has been the main focus of AIC throughout its history. Over the years AIC has maintained a gallery in Downtown Iowa City, and implemented a satellite gallery program in collaboration with local businesses in the Iowa City area.
