What first started as The Pub in the early 70’s, then became Fox and Sam’s then Gabe and Walker’s then Gabe’s Oasis, then the Picador, and now back to Gabe’s. At Gabe’s, it’s all about the live music. Back in the days bands like Nirvana and the Smashing Pumpkins have rocked the stage. Today the bar continues the tradition and offers a unique experience for the music lovers.

Gabe’s brings local, regional and national shows to Iowa City that can be any type of music. It’s not uncommon to see a punk show followed by metal or hip hop.
