Space Place Theater is an intimate performance and learning space nestled within North Hall on the University of Iowa campus. The stage is level with the first row of audience seating, with rows rising up behind for a great view from any of the 220 seats.
Since its acquisition by the UI as a gymnasium and warm-up space for dancers in the early 1980s, it has evolved into a versatile and technologically advanced performance space, primarily hosting classes performances by students and faculty in the UI Department of Dance. Space Place was recently renovated in both the audience and backstage areas. The Department of Dance plays a key role in the university’s Performing Arts At Iowa ecosystem.
