The newest addition to the Northside business community is Wild Culture Kombucha which recently opened in the location formerly occupied by Sonny’s Northside Tap. The co-owners, Rachelle Schmidt and Tim Roed, opened their doors for business Tuesday, October 23 making their kombucha taproom the only one of its kind in the state of Iowa.
Wild Culture Kombucha has been operational as a business for three years being sold at nearly 40 locations across Iowa and the Quad Cities, but their new location on the Northside is their first permanent brick and mortar location. In addition to kombucha, the business also carries local beers, wine, cider, tea, coffee, and small plates with the goal of offering a little something for everyone.
Unlike much kombucha available in Iowa, Wild Culture doesn’t interrupt the fermentation process or dilute their product, which Schmidt and Roed say results in more probiotics, vitamins, and nutrients. “The big thing is gut health and digestion but it has a wide range of health benefits. It’s full of nutrients. It’s full of vitamins. It’s an amazing detox, immune support. The list goes on. So, it’s just an all-around good beverage to have,” Schmidt said.
While you have to be a 21+ to enjoy the kombucha and other alcoholic options Wild Culture Kombucha has to offer, we encourage everyone to stop by this welcomed new addition to the Northside community!
