The Hamburg Inn No. 2 Reopening Thursday, October 5, 2023

IOWA CITY, IA: Iowa City’s iconic diner, The Hamburg Inn No. 2, will reopen after a monthslong closure and change in ownership on Thursday, October 5 at 7:00am. The public are invited to join in celebrating Homecoming Week in Iowa City with the classic Hamburg Inn tastes of Pieshakes, fried chicken and celebratory cups of bottomless coffee. Guests will find all of their time-honored favorites on the menu and are encouraged to cast their vote for the 2024 Presidential Election in Iowa’s most famous straw poll, The Hamburg Inn Coffee Bean Caucus. The next chapter of The ‘Burg’s nearly 90-year history will be stewarded by Gold Cap Hospitality, led by local partners John Maske, Stephanie Breitbach, Nate Kaeding, Matt Swift, Benjamin Smart, Doug Goettsch, and Cory Kent. The team at Gold Cap Hospitality also owns and operates a pair of other Iowa City staples, Pullman Bar & Diner and St. Burch Tavern.
