Chloe Angyal

May 30 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Chloe Angyal will read from her new novel, Pointe of Pride and be joined in conversation by Anna Bruno.   Described by Library Journal as a “sexy, smoldering romance that pulls back the curtain on the world of ballet,” Pointe of Pride is Angyal’s follow-up to her fiction debut, Pas de Don’t. “Pointe of Pride combines witty banter with elegant prose, and the tension between the sparring leads kept me turning pages until all hours of the night. The romance at the story’s core is honest, tender, and truly lovely. Like any good dancer, Pointe of Pride digs deep and then soars.”—Andie Burke

Chloe Angyal is the author of the  previous romance novel Pas de Don’t as well as Turning Pointe: How a New Generation of Dancers Is Saving Ballet from Itself, which the Boston Globe called “incisive and unsparing” and “an important read for ballet lovers and an essential part of any conversation moving forward.” Chloe holds a BA from Princeton and a PhD in arts and media from the University of New South Wales. She lives in Coralville with her family.

Anna Bruno is the author of Ordinary Hazards and Fine Young People, forthcoming from Algonquin in 2025. Anna teaches at the University of Iowa’s Tippie College of Business and coaches professionals in creative business communication. Previously, Anna managed public relations and marketing for technology and financial services companies in Silicon Valley. She holds an MFA in fiction from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, an MBA from Cornell University, and a BA from Stanford University. She lives in Iowa City with her husband, two sons, and blue heeler.
