Downtown Iowa City Ambassadors Program Now Hiring

The City of Iowa City & the Iowa City Downtown District’s Partnership with Block by Block to Start June 3rd

(Iowa City, IA) May 10, 2024 – The Downtown Iowa City Ambassadors program, a collaborative effort between the City of Iowa City and the Iowa City Downtown District (ICDD), is pleased to announce open job positions as part of its innovative initiative to enhance downtown services. The program, managed by Block by Block Management Systems, aims to elevate cleanliness, hospitality, and public safety in the downtown business district and parking garages. The Downtown Iowa City Ambassadors program is set to begin June 3, 2024, with interviews happening now. Interested candidates can apply now for the available positions including Operations Manager, Team Leader, and Cleaning Ambassadors.

  • Operations Manager
    • Block by Block is seeking a results-proven Operations Manager to lead the new Downtown Iowa City Ambassador Program.   • Team Leader
    • The Team Leader will manage shift duties for the Cleaning Ambassadors while ensuring staff adhere to company standards and policies. They will monitor ambassador performance, district cleanliness, and identify any unwanted behaviors or criminal activity, and engage pedestrians with friendly greetings, and provide assistance as needed. Additional responsibilities include documenting infrastructure issues, graffiti, and daily accomplishments. Learn more and apply here.
  • Cleaning Ambassador
    • Cleaning Ambassadors will be highly visible at the street level, working to improve the appearance of the service district. Key responsibilities include manual litter collection, graffiti removal, weed abatement, and maintaining the cleanliness of public infrastructure. Ambassadors will engage in observe-and-report activities, providing hospitality and customer service to pedestrians, and submitting written reports on tasks completed. Learn more and apply here.
