Join students from the University of Iowa for a weekend workshop to make masks based on African masks in the Stanley Museum collection. We will tour the museum for inspiration from 10:30-11:45 am, and then create masks in Room 1 of the Theatre Building from 12:30-3:30 pm. Participants may keep their masks or opt to donate them to be auctioned at the Black History Ball on Feb 3. We will take a 45-minute break to transition from the museum to the Theatre Building (0.7 miles apart). Feel free to bring a sack lunch. Paid, accessible parking is available in the Stanley Art Ramp below the museum. Parking in the lot next to the Theatre Building is free on weekends. Material fee: $5; pay instructor.
