Bennett Sims & Louisa Hall In conversation with Donika Kelly

September 9 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Join us for a special Book Matters reading and reception, co-sponsored with the University of Iowa Office of the Vice President for Research!  This event is to celebrate recent books by Louisa Hall and Bennett Sims, faculty in the University of Iowa Department of English. After short readings from the books, Donika Kelly, associate professor of English, will join Hall and Sims for a conversation and Q&A with the audience. Light refreshments will follow.

Louisa Hall, associate professor of English, will read from her 2023 novel, Reproduction,  the story of a woman attempting to write a novel about Mary Shelley, then turning, instead, to write a contemporary Frankenstein.
Bennett Sims, associate professor of English, will read from Other Minds and Other Stories, his collection of 12 stories that guide the reader through  the paranoia and obsession of everyday horrors, not least the horrors of overthinking what other people might be thinking. Moderator Donika Kelly is the author of the poetry collections Bestiary and Renunciations.
