Chloe Angyal

May 30 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Chloe Angyal will read from her new novel,ย Pointe of Prideย and be joined in conversation by Anna Bruno. ย  Described by Library Journal as a โ€œsexy, smoldering romance that pulls back the curtain on the world of ballet,โ€ย Pointe of Prideย is Angyalโ€™s follow-up to her fiction debut, Pas de Donโ€™t. โ€œPointe of Prideย combines witty banter with elegant prose, and the tension between the sparring leads kept me turning pages until all hours of the night. The romance at the storyโ€™s core is honest, tender, and truly lovely. Like any good dancer,ย Pointe of Prideย digs deep and then soars.โ€โ€”Andie Burke

Chloe Angyalย isย the author of theย  previous romance novelย Pas de Don’tย as well asย Turning Pointe: How a New Generation of Dancers Is Saving Ballet from Itself, which the Boston Globe called โ€œincisive and unsparingโ€ and โ€œan important read for ballet lovers and an essential part of any conversation moving forward.โ€ Chloeย holds a BA from Princeton and a PhD in arts and media from the University of New South Wales. She lives in Coralville with her family.

Anna Bruno is the author ofย Ordinary Hazardsย andย Fine Young People, forthcoming from Algonquin in 2025. Anna teaches at the University of Iowaโ€™s Tippie College of Business and coaches professionals in creative business communication. Previously, Anna managed public relations and marketing for technology and financial services companies in Silicon Valley. She holds an MFA in fiction from the Iowa Writersโ€™ Workshop, an MBA from Cornell University, and a BA from Stanford University. She lives in Iowa City with her husband, two sons, and blue heeler.
