ICSC partners with local film non-profit FilmScene to offer our members a discounted screening of a new release film, followed by a facilitated discussion, each month. Our new discussion facilitator is Frank Murray, who has a PhD from Stanford University and 45 years of experience teaching literature, philosophy, and film. Screenings are open to the public and seating is first come, first served. Film titles are announced about two weeks in advance. Register with the Senior Center by 5:00 pm the day before each screening. Fee: $6 for Senior Center members (discounted); pay at the FilmScene box office. Membership required for discounted admission.

About the film: David Cornwell, known more widely under the pseudonym John le Carré, opens up to acclaimed documentarian Errol Morris (The Fog of War) in his final interview, drawing from a past as depicted in his memoir The Pigeon Tunnel: Stories From My Life. The prolific author of such celebrated spy thrillers as Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and The Spy Who Came In From the Cold endeavors on a personal odyssey spanning six decades, from his upbringing as the son of a con man to his own career in British intelligence. In what is perhaps his most candid interview, Cornwell spins a complex narrative web not unlike those found in his novels, challenging the division between what is fact and fiction. Watch the trailer.
