National Honor Our LGBT Elders Day, May 16, is an opportunity to recognize and pay tribute to earlier generations whose activism and bravery have created a path for younger community members to envision a future free from discrimination and stigmatization. In recognition of this day, ICSC’s Queer Elders group will host a film screening and discussion of Some Ground to Stand On (1998). This compelling documentary tells the life story of Blue Lunden, a working-class lesbian activist whose odyssey of personal transformation parallels lesbians’ changing roles over the past 40 years.
