Authors Garry Klein and Sabrina Claman will read from their new book, What Happened on the Garden Street Bus, and will be joined in conversation by David Gould. What Happened on the Garden Street Bus is a “super cool graphic novel” on friendships and community. The Garden Street bus is mostly filled with strangers until a cute baby girl named Flora boards with her mother. Before long, a change is in the air. Garry Klein is an intrepid Midwesterner and first-time author residing in Iowa City, Iowa. Garry is a lyrical dad to a mystical cat and a loving husband to a marvelous mermaid named Betsy, who doubles as his partner of over 40 years. Garry was a career coach at the University of Iowa, and his co-creator of this book, Sabrina Claman, was a talented art student without a plan.
Sabrina Claman loves telling stories through art and animation. A recent graduate of the University of Iowa, she’s now getting an MFA at the University of Connecticut. She finds inspiration sipping tea, doodling, and playing with her dog and farm cows.
David Gould is an administrator at the University of Iowa’s Belin-Blank International Center for Gifted Education and Talent Development and a member of the honors faculty.
