Location: Assembly Room
Did you enjoy making music earlier in life but things happened and you had to stop playing? Or have you always wanted to play with a band? The Iowa City New Horizons Band (ICNHB) provides opportunities for chronologically gifted adults to refresh old skills, learn new ones, or even learn to play a new instrument in the company of others. We practice on Tu/Th mornings from 9:30-10:30 am at the Senior Center, and often there is a social hour afterwards. In addition, you may join a smaller musical group that meets in the hour before or after band practice. These ensemble groups are led by UI School of Music students and perform in a concert at the end of the season. We finish each season with a concert at a local park, the Senior Center, Englert, or Voxman Music Building’s concert hall. There are no auditions to join the band. We follow the New Horizons philosophy of “Your best is good enough” while offering the challenging enjoyment of making music with others. Please come and meet us and bring your instrument.
