Jeanna Kadlec in conversation with Lyz Lenz
April 26 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Prairie Lights Bookstore
Jeanna Kadlec will read from her memoir of growing up evangelical in Iowa, Heretic. She will be joined in conversation by author/journalist Lyz Lenz. “Brilliant and well-read, Kadlec braved the emotional tides of religious trauma, divorce, and coming out as queer all before her thirtieth birthday. … Giving a voice to past and present evangelicals Kadlec invites readers to hold a mirror to the evangelical-political hydra that threatens to overthrow true American freedom.” — Booklist
Jeanna Kadlec is a writer, astrologer, former lingerie boutique owner, and recovering academic. Her writing has appeared in ELLE, NYLON, O the Oprah Magazine, Allure, Catapult, Literary Hub, Autostraddle, and more. A born and bred Midwesterner, she now lives in Brooklyn.
Lyz Lenz is the author of God Land and Belabored. She has published work in the Huffington Post, The Washington Post, the Columbia Journalism Review, The New York Times, Pacific Standard, and others. Lyz’s essay “All the Angry Women” was also included in the anthology Not that Bad, edited by Roxane Gay. She writes a regular newsletter, Men Yell At Me, where she explores the intersection of politics and our bodies in red state America.
