Margot Livesey in conversation with Sam Chang

Please join us with the UIowa Office of the Vice President for Research for a special reading and reception as part of the Book Matters Series, celebrating Writers’ Workshop Faculty member and New York Times bestselling author Margot Livesey. Livesey will read from her new novel, The Road From Belhaven, and be joined in conversation by Workshop Director Sam Chang.   “Margot Livesey shines bright, as always – giving us both the beauty of the world and the roiling tumult of the souls within it. Margot Livesey was born and grew up on the edge of the Scottish Highlands. She is the author of a collection of stories and nine other novels, including Eva Moves the Furniture, The Flight of Gemma Hardy, and The Boy in the Field. She has received awards from the NEA, the Guggenheim Foundation and the Radcliffe Institute. She lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts and is on the faculty of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop.

Lan Samantha Chang is the director of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. She is the author of The Family ChaoInheritance, and All Is Forgotten, Nothing Is Lost. Her work has been translated into nine languages. The director of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, she lives in Iowa City.
