Instructor: Carrie Hough

No Fee

The opioid epidemic has claimed thousands of lives in the U.S. This training explores what opioids are how they work, and also explains how to identify an opioid poisoning/overdose and respond with naloxone, the life-saving medication that can reverse an overdose. Participants in the training may sign up to receive a free naloxone kit via mail. This training is designed for all community members, but may be of particular importance if you or a loved one have been prescribed an opioid medication, or are otherwise at elevated risk of experiencing or witnessing an opioid overdose. Carrie Hough, PhD, MPH is a Prevention Specialist at Community & Family Resources in Iowa City.
