Pamela Grundy- Shattering the Glass: The Remarkable History of Women’s Basketball
February 22 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Join us for a special Saturday afternoon event with author and historian Pamela Grundy, who will talk about Shattering the Glass: The Remarkable History of Women’s Basketball (coauthored with Susan Shackelford). The book explores the origins of women’s basketball with pioneers like Senda Berenson and Clelia Mosher, the critical role of Black players and coaches in the game’s growth, the transformative impact of Title IX and the establishment of the WNBA, and how today’s athletes, amplified by social media, are building on the legacies of their predecessors.
“A fascinating read about the history of women’s basketball, including the many challenges girls and women have overcome to play a game they love. As I read I kept saying to myself, ‘That sure feels familiar.’ Thank you to the authors for chronicling this incredible journey.”—Coach Tara VanDerveer, three-time national champion, Stanford University
