Rebecca Keller in conversation with Abby Geni

April 23, 2023 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Prairie Lights

Writer and internationally exhibited artist Rebecca Keller will read from her new novel, You Should Have Known.  “Who cares about the gentle death of an elderly woman in a retirement community? You will–desperately–as you dive into the marvelous mystery at the heart of You Should Have Known. This book kept me up past my bedtime, frantically turning pages, shocked and delighted by each new twist.” –Abby Geni

Rebecca Keller is a professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She is a Fulbright Scholar, and recipient of awards from the National Endowment for the Arts. Earlier in her life she worked as a house-cleaner, shuttle driver, waitress, and nursing home cook. After earning her graduate degree, she worked in museums,  wrote about art and gave tours, and made her own work at night.  Her stories have been nominated for a Pushcart prize, and she is now working on stories about art and another novel.

Abby Geni is the author of The Wildlands, The Lightkeepers, The Last Animal, and a forthcoming short story collection, The Body Farm, which will be published in the spring of 2024. Her books have won the Barnes & Noble Discover Award and the Chicago Review of Books Awards, and her short stories have been published or are forthcoming in The Missouri Review, Epoch, Ninth Letter, and New Stories from the Midwest. Geni is a faculty member at StoryStudio Chicago and frequently serves as Visiting Associate Professor of Fiction at the University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop.
