Iowa City had a significant number of manufacturing concerns in the 1800s, some short-lived, others spanning a half-century or more, but most of them were gone by the first part of the 20^th century. It wasn’t until the 1950s that a new generation of industry sprouted up. This presentation will explore some interesting stories of the early manufacturers of the 1800s era.
