A Disorderly Conduct Cabaret

Join us at The Englert Theatre for a celebration of queer voices and allied support in a collaboration between the Department of Theatre Arts, the Department of Dance, the School of Music and Performing Arts at Iowa. In times of uncertainty, “FairyLand” is a space where as we gather we belief that, “we must never settle for minimal transport; we must dream and enact new and better pleasures, other ways of being in the world, and ultimately new worlds”- José Esteban Muñoz.

A night of ensemble dance numbers, drag performances, stand-up comedy, heartfelt storytelling, vocal performances, and live music. This show champions body positivity and sex positivity within the queer experience, creating a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere.

We encourage everyone to enter through the back of the Englert Theatre via the alley, where bubbles and attendants will guide you into this safe and magical world. Alternatively, entry is also available through the front doors on Washington Street which is A.D.A. accesible. Doors open at 7 PM, seating begins at 7:30 PM, and the show starts at 8 PM, running for under 90 minutes with no intermission.

The first 48 seats will be on stage with the performers will be first come, first serve. Additional overflow seating will be available in the balcony of the house.

The Englert Theatre will have concessions and the bar will be open during the performance. There will be a drag number, tips for the performers and staff are graciously appreciated.
