Donna will describe her life living with Deaf parents using American Sign Language as her first language. She will talk about living with parents who experienced discrimination due to a lack of social services, such as sign language interpreters. She will describe the challenges her parents faced, as well as the feelings of guilt and resentment she and her siblings experienced related to those challenges. She will use some ASL signs in her presentation. There will be discussion of how ASL has been used by sporting teams and could be used more in medical and other settings.
