World Falconry Day at the Museum of Natural History

The Iowa Raptor Project and the UI Museum of Natural History will team up to bring an array of World Falconry Day programming to Iowa City. All are welcome!

Guests will enjoy engagement activities throughout the entire museum including live birds, hands-on exploration of falconry equipment, a film, arts & crafts, and some educational history of these incredible creatures and the role they’ve played in the arts, survival, and companionship across cultures, through time.

This event is free and open to the public. Students & families welcome. Suggested start in Iowa Hall for information and museum layout. Activities found in all museum galleries (Iowa Hall, Mammal Hall, Bird Hall) as well as the Macbride Hall auditorium.

Iowa Hall: Welcome and information, goodies
Auditorium: Live birds, exhibition Timeline of Falconry, hands-on display of falconry equipment, live presentation by master falconer Holly Anthony at 10:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 11:30 a.m.
Mammal Hall: History of falconry in the arts, children’s arts and crafts project, refreshments
Bird Hall: Falconry film on loop
